Turkeys and Thanksgiving go together like – well – like Food and Dishes, right?! By the early 1900s, greeting cards were big business for holidays, and Thanksgiving was no exception. Turkeys were an obvious subject, and they were frequently paired with adorable children in the greeting cards. Many show the unsuspecting turkey being lovingly lured to its ultimate fate by chubby-cheeked Edwardian children. Others feature the poor bird becoming the child’s means of transportation to the feast, and then, as automobiles became popular, the turkeys can even be found driving themselves to the roaster in their own roadster. One daring bird makes the trip in a Wright Brothers era plane. They all look so cheerful, considering…well…you know…

No matter how you and YOUR turkey get to the table next week, enjoy the ride!
