Girls Who Print Day – October 2, 2018!
First celebrated in 2012, Girls Who Print Day is an annual event, held on Tuesday of Graph Expo each year. The signature theme of Peace. Love. Girls Who Print. reflects the camaraderie of the industry’s largest virtual sorority of women in the print/graphic communications field. Now numbering nearly 10,000 members around the world, GWP Nation continues to promote our love of print, paper, design and communication through networking, blogging and education.
GWP Day is hosted in The Printerverse and live streamed online while being celebrated all over the country with parties, posters, videos and more. The annual GWP Leadership Panel, featuring women leaders in the industry, follows the presentation of the Girlie Award each year. Many graphic arts educators around the country stream the panel live to their classes, allowing students to pose the questions online in real time. Videos of past panels can be viewed here.
A major highlight of National GWP Day is the awarding of the GIRLIE! On September 12, the fourth annual Girlie Award was presented to Trish Witkowskie of FoldFactory.com during our lunchtime activities, and was a complete surprise to her! Past recipients are: Pat McGrew, Cary Sherburne, and Deborah Corn. Watch the look on Trish’s face when she realizes she has been selected as the 2017 Girlie! And yes…the award comes with a Tiara! Many thanks to Morten Reitoft of Inkish.TV for capturing the moment!
Any time you attend Graph Expo, you’re invited to celebrate Girls Who Print Day with us in the Printerverse at noon on Tuesday for a light lunch. For those who cannot attend, we always share photos and videos via social media throughout the day! No matter where you are on GWP Day, you are part of the celebration! The photos you share from your own parties are a big part of what makes GWP Day so special. Be sure and use #GirlsWhoPrint as you post photos on social media.
Make sure you follow the Twitter feeds @GirlsWhoPrint, @PrintMediaCentr, @mbsmithTX and #graphexpo to be connected to what’s going on in The Printerverse on Girls Who Print Day, and see who stopped by to say hello!

Traditionally, members take pictures of themselves with the poster at work and post them out through the GWP Facebook page. Some companies also make full size banners from the artwork and hang it at their GWP Day parties! Many organizations also order shirts or other GWP swag online at www.cafepress.com/GirlsWhoPrint. The shop is open year-round, and has countless styles and sizes, including children, plus, maternity, and even men. There are also mugs, buttons, aprons, bags, and more.
It is never too early to start planning your company’s 2018 GWP Day celebration. Talk to your HR people, or managers, or whoever manages your company calendar, and have them get October 2, 2018 set aside NOW to take part in honoring the mighty and talented women who make print happen!
Peace. Love. GWP Forever.
